"The Wave" review

The film is presented as a reflection about the possibility of a reaffirmation of autocratic rule in Germany. In a class of high school located in a suburban town imprecise, students must choose a course to follow during the week dedicated to various forms of alternative political conception of democracy. Professor Reiner, anarchic rock lover, finds himself having to take the course instead of the anarchy sull'autocrazia dearest to him. The students, the course iscrittisi more sympathy for the professor that interest in the subject matter, just expose their concerns against the usefulness of approaching the study of the autocratic government. Indeed, how could a democratic Germany and conscious of the past regenerate a totalitarian government? To answer this question, Professor Reiner establishing a sort of role-playing game by his class to take all steps leading to the genesis of totalitarian regimes. Students begin to get all dressed up with white shirts and take the name of "the wave" to all intents and purposes forming an elite group than other classes. The state of superiority caused by belonging to an exclusive group takes the children to behave violently with those who are not part of their group and the project gets out of hand the professor. This film, the result of a Germany that reflects on itself and on the possibility of repeating the mistakes made, takes its objective by bringing the viewer to take in turn the same thought. The danger of fascism is presented as a present, a hazard created by the exploitation of security provided by the uniformity. The students of "the wave" feel superior to others, but not as individuals but as a group responding unconditionally to the orders of Professor Reiner who assumes the role of Fuhrer. The film manages to communicate fully as possible the formation of a totalitarian regime, pointing out that even if this was the unconditional rejection of dictatorships of the twentieth century, this is not shown by the rejection of the dictatorship as a concept in itself and the possibility of a restatement.
